At De Beauvoir Primary School, we ensure that pupils’ education meets the needs of the new National Curriculum.  Our vision is to keep the children’s needs, interests and skills for life at the heart of everything we do. To support our vision, the offer we provide for our pupils is a rich, relevant, broad and balanced curriculum.  We actively teach the skills and knowledge children need in order to prepare them for life, as well as the essential attributes of resilience, communication, endurance and enquiry.

We believe that it is essential that children’s learning in the wider curriculum is supported by real-life experiences, inside and outside of school, such as educational visits, workshops and hands on exploration and discovery.

We follow our own school designed units of work for our topic curriculum, encompassing art and design, science, geography and history.  Wherever relevant, work in English (reading and writing) is also linked to the topic unit. We have designed the themes across the school, looking at World and Recent History (History), Extreme Earth and Where in the World (Geography) and Brilliant Britons and Diverse De Beauvoir (PSHE/history/geography).
