Olive Class consists of Year 3 and Year 4 children.

Vertical grouping in Years 3-4

In September 2021, the school structure changed and we moved to having vertical grouping in some classes. At De Beauvoir, this means that children in Year 3 and 4 are combined for English, topic, PE, computing, music, Spanish and RE . Our curriculum has been designed specifically to ensure that all learning meets the National Curriculum objectives and the topics are engaging, rich and age-appropriate. Pupils are taught reading, maths and science in smaller year group classes.

There are lots of documented benefits of vertical grouping and considering the challenges our pupils have faced during the pandemic, we believe that this model will supports our children academically, socially and holistically.
