At De Beauvoir, we are respectful and inclusive, and celebrate everyone’s beliefs, religions and opinions. Religious Education teaching helps promote pupils’ spiritual, moral, social and cultural development and prepares all pupils for the opportunities, responsibilities and experiences in a multi-faith and multi-cultural world. The lessons also provide opportunities for pupils to explore, learn, share and discuss the beliefs and experiences of others as well as their own experiences.

Our school assemblies reflect the diverse community in which we live in and celebrate a wide range of festivals from the six major religions.
We follow the agreed Hackney syllabus for the teaching of Religious Education and RE is blocked during specific RE weeks each half term. The Hackney syllabus develops children’s understanding and learning about and from religion, and are material is drawn from the six major religions – Christianity, Judaism, Hinduism, Sikhism and Buddhism. In order to further enhance the children’s understanding of these religions, there are additional opportunities to learn from people in their local community and visit a range of religious buildings.
