Our Partnerships

Home > Our Partnerships

The federation works closely with a number of external partners to deliver the best possible education to its pupils and stakeholders.

Hackney Education and Schools

Hackney Education and Schools (HES) is part of the Children, Adult and Community Health (CACH) directorate within the Council and works closely with all types of schools and settings in the borough. HES are responsible for Hackney’s children’s centres, schools, early years programs and adult education.

Their mission is to improve the life chances of every child, young person and learner in Hackney making Hackney the most forward-looking education system in the UK, where schools, settings and partners provide an exciting environment that ensures inclusion and success for everyone. They see the borough as being one of the best places in the country for young people to grow, learn, develop and achieve – and one of the best places for colleagues to work and thrive in our education system.

Primary Advantage continues to work closely with the Hackney Education and Schools in the fields of CPD, school improvement and system leadership.

Find out more about the CPD offered in the Hackney learning Trust.

National Centre for Excellence in Teaching of Mathematics

National Centre for Excellence in Teaching of Mathematics (NCETM) collaborates with the Government agencies, higher education institutions, research bodies, maths subject associations and other bodies devoted to maths education. NCTEM aims to raise levels of achievement in maths and to increase appreciation of maths across the schools and society. NCETM focuses on research in area of maths teaching and provision of CPD in maths.

Primary Advantage works closely with NCETM in the field of professional development. Excellent resources on their website inform both our planning and assessment processes. NCETM have been into our schools to film best practice in our classrooms to share on their website. Click here to watch some of these videos.

UCL Institute of Education

UCL Institute of Education (IoE) works in strong partnerships with individual schools, clusters of schools and Teaching School Alliances to support improved outcomes for colleagues, children and young people.  All their partnership work with schools is underpinned by world class research.

Primary Advantage works closely with IoE to both train new teachers and engage in research and development across our schools.

We are proud to have been awarded a Specialist Partner award for our contribution to initial teacher training.

Diocese of London

The Church of England has established and sustained schools for the people of London for hundreds of years. In 1924, the London Diocesan Board for Schools was set up to be the educational arm of the London Diocese. The function of the LDBS and aspects of its governance is set down in the Diocesan Measure that has been approved by both Parliament and the Church. Key purposes of the LDBS are “to promote church schools” and “to promote education which is consistent with the faith and practice of the Church of England”

Four of our schools within the Federation are church schools. Primary Advantage work in close partnership with The Diocese of London, who play a key role in our school development and governance.

Lord Mayor’s Fund

The London Schools Excellence Fund (LSEF), part of the Mayor’s Education Programme, aims to raise achievement of pupils in London schools by focusing on teachers’ subject knowledge and subject specific teaching methods.  The Greater London Assembly (GLA) and the Department for Education have agreed this focus because research from Britain and abroad shows that the quality of teaching is the number one factor to improve children’s attainment at school and can narrow the gap in educational outcomes.

Primary Advantage received recognition from the LSEF for our contribution to CPD and mathematics. This grant allowed us to launch the PA Maths Programme which has provided maths training to over 70 schools in Hackney and beyond.

East London Teaching School Hub

East London Teaching School Hub is one of 87 Teaching School Hubs designated by the Department for Education. Each Teaching School Hub has a specific geographical area: our Hub has a responsibility to all 176 schools in Hackney and Tower Hamlets.
East London Teaching School Hub delivers teacher development programmes for teachers at every stage of their career informed by the best available evidence. This includes delivering the Early Career Full Induction Programme and the full suite of new National Professional Qualifications. They also work closely with the region’s curriculum hubs to connect teachers and schools to the
programmes and support they offer.  By working with strategic partners such as Primary Advantage, East London
Teaching School hub brings together the passion, expertise and capacity from across Tower Hamlets
and Hackney, to equip teachers with the techniques, motivation and confidence they need to make
a difference for every pupil in our region.  To find out more, please visit www.eastlondontsh.org
